All forms of child abuse in any circumstances deserve condemnation, Why then are people selective? Self-interest? Priorities? A desire to protect a political or religious institution in which they have a vested interest?
Ellen O'Brien | 10 February 2016

Abuse of people, especially children, can never be excused. Those who create the circumstances that permit it are culpable, whether it is a religion that is promoted as an exclusive expression of God's will, or a government that thinks it expresses the will of the people whose views they manipulate with censorship and spin. Politicians should not make these decisions as their priority is not achieving best results but maintaining power. Even Prime Ministers are not exempt.

Ellen O'Brien: Question. "Why then are people selective? Self-interest? Priorities? A desire to protect a political or religious institution in which they have a vested interest?" Answer. " All of those. Especially the first".
