Unlike many media organisations, Eureka Street doesn't use paywalls. We believe in making the work of our writers as free and accessible as possible.
But there are costs. In particular - and in contrast to many other online publications - we pay our contributors. After all, Eureka Street simply could not exist without the talents, expertise and sheer hard work of our writers and illustrators.
In lieu of paywalls, we rely almost entirely on donations from our readers and organisations that support our endeavours. If you enjoyed this article, please consider making a donation. Every little bit helps us in our efforts to bring a distinctive, values-based take on the issues and events that matter in our world.
Harsh, Fiona! Very harsh towards muppets... Bill Venables | 16 January 2019
The muppets as you call them are muppets we the people have let get there where they run the show. like all the muppets before them for as long as I can remember which is getting on for nigh 60 years. But they are all there has ever been; any decent character that sticks head up is soon dispatched. I am angry and ashamed and wonder why i ever came back to this country and stayed when I need not have 30 and 40 years ago. Every aspect of it is run by self serving mediocrities, always has been. I threw out TV years ago now. Will not buy and rarely read any newspaper. Cant bear the sanctimonious drivel on the ABC. Even worse is the so called 'community radio'. ( Only this magazine is pretty good and I'm not even a mick.) If anyone will buy me a ticket out I'd go tomorrow. Portugal appeals. Some remote island off Scotland . What can I do to get deported and have my citizenship revoked? Do I have to threaten to blow something up? Suppose have to get locked up first that way. Hmm. Thinks. Jaq Spratt | 23 January 2019
