We could lay out bits and pieces of Tony Abbott to lure Xi Jinping to Canberra to make peace without having Morrison to go to Beijing first like some craven vassal, but putting Xi up at The Lodge would be like putting up a guest in the gardener’s shed. Nova Scotia has been taken by Canada, we have dibs on Nova Cambria Meridiem although for some strange reason we choose not to use that, but perhaps, to counter the lazy practice of allocating banal names to those sub-sovereign jurisdictional entities centre and east, the Commonwealth could offer Xi not only a very long lease to the Port of Darwin but the Mandarin equivalent of New Small China for the name of the jurisdictional entity responsible for it.
