    Members Equity Stadium, ACER Arena, Suncorp Stadium, Etihad Stadium; corporations think they own a lot of our stuff. These buildings, and the events they house, constitute our cultural and urban landscapes. They should be sources of community pride.

    'Nothing beats being there and listening. I wonder who cares enough to live with the communities?' If the logic of last month's Parliamentary Apology to the Stolen Generations is translated into Government policy and action, there is every hope that 'being there and listening' could be adopted as an official strategy.

    It’s hard to put the dead to rest. 18 August 2006 is the 40th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan, in which 18 Australian and more than 245 Viet Cong soldiers were killed. There’s an invitation to go to Perth where they’re naming streets in a new housing development after six soldiers who did not return.
