Maria Vamvakinou

Maria Vamvakinou Maria Vamvakinou has been Labor Member for Calwell since 2001. She is a secondary school teacher by profession. Prior to her election, Maria worked for two State Labor Ministers and a Federal Labor Senator.

She currently serves on the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade, and is Deputy Chair of the Human Rights Sub-Committee, Co-Chair of the Parliamentarians Against Nuclear Proliferation and Co-Chair of the Parliamentary Breast Cancer Network. Her main areas of interest are multiculturalism, human rights, foreign affairs, immigration and social justice.
