Michael Danby

Michael DanbyMichael Danby has been Labor Member for Melbourne Ports since 1998. Before his election he was a journalist and editor, ministerial advisor and trade union industrial officer. He has lived all his life in Melbourne Ports and has many involvements with the local community. In Parliament, his main areas of interest have been foreign affairs and national security, human rights, immigration, education, child care and electoral matters. He is Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Joint Standing Committee on Electoral Matters and a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade, and is secretary of the Labor Party's National Security Caucus Committee. He has been an Opposition Whip since 2001.
