Peter Bakowski

Peter BakowskiBorn in Melbourne in 1954 to Polish-German delicatessen-running parents, Peter Bakowski has been writing poetry for over twenty years. His poems have appeared and continue to appear in literary journals wordwide. Poems of his have been translated into Arabic, Bahasa-Indonesian, Bengali, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Polish. He has been writer-in-residence in Rome, Paris, Greenmount (Western Australia), Battery Point (Tasmania), and Broken Hill (New South Wales). His first book In the human night  won the Victorian Premiers Award for Poetry. Peter has self-organized and self-financed over a dozen poetry tours by car (station wagon), visiting many regions of Australia, some tours covering over 10,000 kilometres. Peter specializes in giving poetry readings in private houses to groups of eight or more.
